Wollastonite is a typical metamorphic mineral,which has primarily occurred in contact between acid rock and limestone,and sometimes occurred in deep metamorphic calc schist,volcanic product and in some alkaline rock.The chemical molecular formula of wollastonite is CaSiO3, and structural formula is Ca3Si3O9,the theoretical chemical compositions:48.25% CaO,51.75% SiO2.
It cab be used on Ceramic glaze,ceramic engobe,architectural ceramics,sanitary ware,household china,artistic porcelain,electrical porcelain,ceramic fiber,ect.
Wollastonite is a thin plate-like crystal of triclinic system which belong to a chain silicate.With the advantage of non-toxic,acid and alkali resistant,low hygroscopicity,low oil absorption, low conductivity,good insulation,high whiteness,thermal stability and dimensional stability good,excellent mechnical p[roperties and electrical charateristics.
Adding appropriate wollastonite (either medium-grade or low-grade) in ceramic raw material is beneficial to greatly reduce firing temperature and shorten firing time of finished product, achieve low-temperature once firing, save a great deal of fuel and product cost. Because wollastonite products do not include alkali metal, it shows excellent electric insulation property, as well as high impact strength resistance and dimensional stability, has a wide application in the precision ceramic industry and art ceramic industry. In glaze mud material, wollastonite, instead of white pigment, can increase gloss of glaze, reduce viscosity of glaze mud and mitigate cost greatly. |
